Team Schedule:
> Practices
From December to April we will aim to have approximately 6 indoor practices at an indoor baseball training facility.
Beginning in May, we will be having 2 - 3 events (practices and/or exhibition games) per week. If our field assignment follows the previous year?¢??s schedule, we will have one weeknight and one weekend practice and a Sunday league game. We will also add exhibition games whenever possible (as a coaching and parent group, we will decide on this once the team is formed). There is typically a break beginning in July, and then team activity resumes intensely towards the end of July until the Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) weekend, August 7th to 10th (weekend after the August long weekend).
> Games
Our team this year will be looking to play approximately 20 to 25 games total.
Regular Season Games: The select schedule usually plays 10 games in the Toronto Baseball Association loop. Those games are mostly on Sunday afternoons/evenings.
Exhibition games: Our team will be looking to play exhibition games against other select teams. This will happen in May and sporadically throughout the season.
For all games, it is requirement to arrive on-time, one hour before the scheduled start-time.
> Tournaments
We will most likely schedule a couple of tournaments plus the Toronto baseball ?¢??playoffs?¢?? (TBA as mentioned above). For tournament weekends, the likely requirement is a game Friday night, two games Saturday, and possibly games on Sunday as well. There are no practices or games on long weekends.
Select Ontario Championships ?¢?? If we win the TBA?¢??s, we will represent Toronto East at the Ontario championships on Labour Day Weekend.
Expectations:
If selected, we expect the players and parents to treat this as a serious commitment. It is important that players arrive on-time for all practices and games (one hour early for games).
> Time-Off
As a team, we will discuss how many weeks to break for in July (eg. optional practices only/no games) for vacation time.
We expect players to make most games and practices. Come May, it is requested that players miss a maximum of 2 events (games or practices) over the May and June, and a maximum of 2 events over July and August.
It is also requested that players be at all tournaments, unless previously communicated.
> Financial Commitment
The cost will be approximately $850, going towards uniforms, umpire fee?¢??s, league fee?¢??s, equipment, exhibition games, tournaments, indoor sessions, etc. Players will also be requested to purchase a North York bat bag in May (~$60). There will also be the option to purchase other North York gear (sweatshirts, etc.). Players are also asked to provide their own bats and helmets.
> Parent Involvement
Parents play a huge role in this team. We expect to have a strong, supportive, and positive fan base.
> Player Independence
It is expected that once the player is at the field (game or practice) that they are totally independent and focused on the game or practice. They will need to look after their own equipment and water, and accordingly, we request that parents not be at the bench, especially during games.
