TBA tournaments can be wild affairs.

The North York Blues 10U AA entered the 2025 tournament as the 7th seed and looked destined for an early exit after a tough 10-1 loss to Martingrove.

Things only got worse when they quickly fell behind 11-1 in their elimination game against Toronto Playgrounds. Parents could be forgiven for making dinner plans and assuming the season was over.

But then the Blues came roaring back—scoring four runs in each of the next three innings to pull off a stunning 13-12 win. Colin Chan, Cooper Khayat, Jonah Silver, and Miles Kumar each delivered extra-base hits, while Lanny Goluboff and Hudson Teguh collected three hits apiece.

Immediately after, the Blues faced Bloordale in what turned out to be a much tighter pitching contest. Pitchers Jason Liang and Theo Zochowski combined to hold Bloordale to six runs, while the offense—sparked by Hugo Fu’s two stolen bases and Brixton Haywood’s winning RBI—sealed another one run victory.

With no time to rest, the Blues shifted diamonds to take on East York in their third straight game of the day. They started hot and looked poised to punch their ticket to Sunday. But despite strong pitching from Neilan Patel and multi-hit games from Nick Srinivasan and Camden Haywood, the Blues fell just short in a hard-fought 10-8 loss.

The tournament proved to be a thrilling end to the Blues’ season.
