The NYBA 13U Select brought home the championship of the Clarington Classic Select Tournament (June 23 weekend.)

After a rain-shortened game on Friday against Bloordale Gold (10-4 win) the team had to wait until Saturday night to play their next game, another win against the London Tincaps (16-8).

Sunday brought a semi-final match against Bloordale Green and another win (17-1). Off to the finals against the powerhouse West Mountain Cougars from Hamilton, a team that had beaten another team 31-1 earlier in the tournament.

The first few innings were close, before North York slammed the door shut in the final inning winning 15-8.

It was a great weekend, despite the rain, and the players grew together as a team.

Congratulations to the NYBA 13U Select players, coaches and parents – who are the best fans ever!

*The Clarington Baseball Association was grateful to all of the volunteers and the Municipality of Clarington for making sure the diamonds were raked and chalked!
