Over the June 9-11th weekend, NYBA 14U A played in a 4-team round-robin tournament – the East Toronto Baseball Association (ETBA) Dodgers Classic U15.

Things got off to a shaky start against East Toronto when the team was “mercied” off the field in the 5th inning in a 12-1 game.

Behind some great pitching, bats coming alive, and much improved base-running, the team rebounded on Saturday and defeated Toronto Playgrounds 14U A 14-8 and Vaughan Vikings 14U A 17-8.

This set up another game against East Toronto on Sunday in the finals of the tournament. Again solid pitching, timely hitting, and good base-running led the team to a 10-4 victory.

This team continues to grow. We have come a long way in a few months. With only half of this group having played together last year, players are still getting to know one another (and the coaches). Coaches continue to learn and are starting to get a feel for how best to support this team. This willingness to learn, trust, and grow are all essential components needed to create a successful team culture.

Congratulations to the players of NYBA 14U A.

A special thank you to the parents and families who support this team.

Thanks to Coach Dave for this great report!
